Contracts, Grants, and Contributions – Do Words Matter?
September, 13, 2018
10:15 – 10:45 am

There is tremendous pressure on nonprofits to generate revenue to support their programs. As a result, the accounting for revenue from contracts, grants, and contributions is of critical importance. Unanticipated changes in how a nonprofit presents its revenue streams can negatively impact loan covenants, contract compliance, and the perception of funders. A common source of confusion stems from the definitions contracts, grants, and contributions. In this session, we’ll provide a practical understanding of what these terms actually mean from an accountant’s point of view. With this knowledge, nonprofits can move forward feeling confident that surprises aren’t lurking in their financial statements!
